Teknolust and Wikipedia

Initially, I felt lost on what my Wikipedia contribution should be. I began looking through different pages as I came across the page for Teknolust. It was disappointing how bare this whole article was, lacking basic information such as a plot summary. I decided to make my contribution here, adding a plot summary, awards and nominations and a social critique on sex, gender and reproduction, and artificial intelligence and technology.
The action of formally contributing your own words onto such a popular and open source such as Wikipedia was definitely overwhelming. As a student and academic, it makes me feel more established and important as my thoughts will be read by many others and forever be on the internet, as long as the editors don't take it down. Contributing to Wikipedia ended up being an eyeopening experience which showed me how much work goes into the production of an article and the importance of Wikipedia overall, as a great source for shared knowledge and relatively objective information.
I have a few screenshots below of the specific content I contributed as well as a picture of how the page looked before my contributions.

  1. Hi Alina, good use of the Sandbox! I am still havign a hard time seeing what was there before and what you added. You may want to add links or explanation to terms such as "Butlerian" and "Human Genome Project." Nice work!

  3. Thanks Chelsea!

Hello Professor Cartwright! That's a great idea! I will add some links to the page. I added a plot summary, awards and nominations and a social critique on sex, gender and reproduction, and artificial intelligence and technology. The last photograph posted is a screenshot of the page before I edited it.

  4. Wow! You quadrupled the length of the article and ventured out of the Sandbox very successfully! You did a very good job using the subheadings organization that is favored by Wikipedia. And -- as someone who often teaches this film -- I noticed how weak the article was before your editing efforts and am grateful on behalf of my future students. You probably want to add some citations to the section on "Social Critique" so it is not deleted as original research.
